Objective:To explore the expression of Cath-D and M2-PK in serous epithelialborderline ovarian tumors and their clinical significance. Then we analyzedthe test results and explored the related factors to look for their roles intumor development, invasion and metastasis. We hope to find a morespecific, sensitive, minimally invasive tumor marker. After that, it will beture that we could diagnose diseases earlier and be exactly do the clinicworks of treatments about borderline ovarian tumors and prevention ofrecurrence. Methods:Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression ofCath-D and M2-PK in38cases of serous epithelial borderline ovariantumors and40cases of epithelial ovarian benign tumors.Data processingand analysis applied SPSS19.0statistical software. We used the x2test andfisher exact calculation method to calculate and compare the positive rateof count data, P <0.05indicating significant difference.Results:1.M2-PK and Cath-D expression are more common in borderlineovarian serous tissues, expressed weakly or not expressed in benignovarian serous tissues. Positive reaction products, yellow to browngranular, diffusing distribution, are mainly localized in the cytoplasm. There are more in tumor cells and interstitial similar expressions, less intumor stroma cells.2. In epithelial benign ovarian tumors and epithelial borderline ovariantumors, the positive rates of M2-PK were40%and76.32%respectively.There were some significant differences between the twogroups(P<0.05). Expression levels in different ages and stages of diseasecase, however, the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). 3. The positive rates of Cath-D were25%and65.79%respectively inepithelial benign ovarian tumors and epithelial borderline ovarian tumors. There were significant differences among the two groups(P<0.05).Expression levels in different ages and stages of disease cases, thedifference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).4. M2-PK and Cath-D for borderline ovarian serous, the diagnosticsensitivities were76.32%and65.79%, meanwhile the specificities were60%and75%. Detection of ovarian borderline serous tissues helps theearly diagnosis and treatments of ovarian borderline serous cystadenoma. Conclusions:Over expression of Cath-D and M2-PK suggests that they mayparticipate in the progression and oncogensis of epithelial borderlineovarian tumors, which can provide reference for the diagnosis andprognosis of the epithelial borderline ovarian tumors. Both Cath-D andM2-PK may play critically important roles in the pathogenesis of epithelialborderline ovarian tumors. But expression levels in different ages, stages ofdisease cases, the differences were not statistically significant. We shouldstill do more extensive research on the expression in serum and feces oflate stage or recurrent and mglignant tumor tissues. At last we will realizefinding the specific, sensitive and minimally invasive tumor markers ofborderline ovarian serous tumor.
