| ObjectivesThis study is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of general practitioner teacher training in Zhejiang Province, with analyzing the influencing factors of the training effectiveness and summing up the experience, to provide new ideas for the next general practitioners teacher training project and the construction of teachers’ team.MethodsFirstly, this study adopts method of literature review to understand the advances in research on evaluation of the general practitioner teacher training. Secondly, the model of Kirkpatrick four levels is used to evaluate the effectiveness of training. Then, rank-transformed nonparametric testã€chi-square test and logistic regression are applied to discuss the influencing factors of effectiveness.ResultsThere are393general practitioner teachers finished the whole training during the three phases. After surveyed288trainees, it showed that92.2%of them felt satisfied with the training, especially the aspects of training content and training materials. Meanwhile,a lower satisfaction was found when the trainees evaluated the distribution of training classes and performance assessment. Trainees with different levels(such as age, education, title and workplace, etc)appeared to be different in training tutors satisfaction.46.2%held a view that the different quality of trainees was the main problem durning the whole training, while those thought the main problem was the unreasonable training time arrangement and the unproper course contents accounted for39.4%and35.5%.81%of the trainees thought them had achieved the purpose of training,64.7%thought the training had improved their teaching level and56.1%felt their professional level had been improved.Differences on education and workplace lead to the different evaluations on the assistance received from the training. The survey showed that63.6%of trainees had participated in teaching when them finished the training, previous trainingã€teaching experienceã€workplace and the task of training were the main influencing factors. Logistic regression analysis showed that the factors of title and task of training influenced trainees participating in teaching. The biggest barriers encountered in the teaching work were lack of supporting measures and abundant time for teaching.ConclusionThe teacher training had gotten a high satisfaction from288trainees and those with low quality felt more satisfied. Most of trainees thought them had achieved the purpose of training, with the improvement on their teaching level and professional level.More than60%had participated in teaching, lack of supporting measures and abundant time for teaching are the main barriers. There were some influencing factors that make trainees more likely to participate in teaching, including having teaching experienceã€receiving little training beforeã€from the large hospital and have the tasks of teaching. After adjusting the influence among related factors, it was found that those with higher title and having tasks of teaching were more likely to participate in teaching. |
