Objective: Pricking blood therapy is easy to operate and has fewer sideeffects. It is one of the traditional methods of acupuncture in the treatment ofdiseases. In recent years, with the development and progress of medicaltechnology, the scope of clinical application of pricking blood therapy isexpanded gradually and played a key role in the treatment and prevention ofmany diseases.This research using data mining technology to summarize andanalyze the diseases species that treating with pricking blood therapy in theliterature, obtain full and scientific clinical disease spectrum of pricking bloodtherapy, reveal the matter that what diseases can be treated with bloodlettingtherapy in clinical and which is the predominant disease for this therapy. Wesummarize the rules and features of bloodletting therapy to guide the clinicalapplication and promote the standardized research of pricking blood therapythat treating clinical diseases. This will establish the foundation of clinicalapplication of pricking blood therapy and further research.Method:1. Datas collection.Search the journal articles, dissertations andconference papers of pricking blood therapy on CNKI database then downloadand save. Assess these datas based on the including-criteria andexcluding-criteria then select the suitable literatures and extract related andvalid information.2. The establishment of network database. After read large literatures andunderstand the features of these literatures we select the effective informationrefer to the database of fire needle, water needle and buried line and establishindependent database of pricking blood therapy network database. Then wechoose part of these literatures to make pre-experiment for standardizedprocessing of the information and amendment of network database platform. The periodical literature database record the name of the journal, documenttitle, the name of the disease, the division name, choice of needles, the point ofselection, the therapeutic effect and so on.3. Data input. After the establishment and amendment of the database, weinput the relevant documentation and information. After the inputting, weaudit the database in accordance with the strict three-level audit system toreduce errors.4. The extraction of data. Using the associated rules, genetic algorithmand classification algorithm, in the data mining technology we set theassociation between the pricking blood therapy and the suitable diseasespecies, the disease and the disease division, the disease and selection ofneedle, the disease and bloodletting parts selection and the disease divisionand effect, then we extract, statistics and analysis these informations usingOn-Line Analytical Processing technology and provide the data to researchersas the forms of professional reports and inquesting results. This study isextract the association of diseases and disease division.Results: All journal articles, dissertations and important documents aboutthe pricking blood therapy are totally of1484articles that involving139species of clinical diseases. In these diseases, diseases of internal medicine themost with a sum of46species that accounting for33.09%of the total disease;the others are surgery, facial features section, dermatology, paediatrics andgynaecology, which is40,23,16,10,4species respectively. The applicationof pricking blood therapy on clinical subjects is general, surgery and facialfeatures section are obviously which occupy more than half of the totalnumber of documents and are405and381articles respectively. The others areinternal medicine343articles, dermatology324articles, paediatrics25articlesand gynecology6articles. The species of disease that have literatures morethan45are hordeolum stye(156), followed by acne (123), snake-sore (119),injuries of muscles and tendons (79), storm mad eye (64), headache (58),breast moth (57), lumbar and leg pain (57) and face paralysis (57).Conclusions:The analysis of disease spectrum of pricking blood therapy referring to many clinical diseases and its advantage is mainly concentrated onsome heat syndrome and stagnation syndrome in facial features and skinsections, such as needle-eye, acne, snakes-sore and so on. In addition to thesecommon diseases and frequently-occurring diseases, those deficiencysyndrome and incurable diseases such as flaccidity syndrome, consumptivedisease, psoriasis and rosacea also received effective effect. Through theanalysis of pricking blood therapy for disease, we can see that pricking bloodtherapy have the effect of promoting blood circulation to remove meridianobstruction, dispelling wind and eliminating dampness, clearing the heat andeliminating stagnation and relieving swelling and pain, so as to expellingblood stasis for a new and regulating of negative and positive.
