Objective: The objective of this study was to summarize and analyzethe clinical course of hemangiomas, and evaluate the efficacy, safety andadverse reactions of intratumor injection of pingyangmycin for the treatmentof hemangiomas, thus providing evidence-based basis for the clinicaltreatment of hemangiomas.Method: Clinical data from6,029hemangioma patients treated withpingyangmycin injection in the Vascular Surgery Unit of the AffiliatedHospital of North Sichuan Medical College from September,1991toDecember,2012were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Of the6,029patients,5,235patients (86.83%) were cured,506(8.39%)showed marked improvement, and213(3.53%) had some improvement.5,954patients in total showed effect, the total effective rate was98.76%.Theaverage score for the therapeutic effects was2.81points (the score for thecure effect was3points).502patients (8.33%) suffered from some adverse reactions, includingfever in302patients (5.01%), ulceration and infection in68patients (1.13%),poor appetite in25patients (0.46%), and anaphylaxis in5patients (0.08%).Conclusion: Treatment of hemangiomas with pingyangmycin injectionis a safe and effective therapy, with a low incidence of controllable adverse reactions.
