Purpose:To assess the clinical effects and security of Xiaopi decoction on functional dyspepsia (Liver Qi Stagnation and Spleen Deficiency Syndrome), as well as the recurrence rates one month later after treatment.Method:One hundred patients with functional dyspepsia (Liver Qi Stagnation and Spleen Deficiency Syndrome) who met the test standards of this research were selected and divided into two groups randomly,50cases in the treatment group, taking Xiaopi decoction for four weeks, and50cases in the control group, taking Weisu Granules for four weeks. Observe and assess the clinical symptoms before and after the treatment, as well as the changes of security indicators, and observe the recurrence rates one month later after the treatment.Result:1.Analysis of Clinical Effects:the effective rate of the treatment group was92%, and the effective rate of the control group was82%, which showed the effects of the comprehensive curative effect of the treatment group was obviously better than that of the control group (P<0.05).2. Comparison of symptom scores between the two groups:the clinical symptoms of the two groups were improved to some degree, and there was a significant reduction in the symptom scores of patients from both the treatment group and the control group after the treatment in comparison with the scores before the treatment(P<0.05),and the treatment group reduced more than the control group(P<0.05). The improvement of symptoms like the burning sensation in upper abdominal, regurgitation belching, nausea vomiting, insomnia and dreaminess in two groups, the treatment group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05), and for the symptoms of abdominal fullness after meals, early satiety, poor appetite, the two groups have the similar cu-rative effects (P>0.05).3. The recurrence rate of the treatment group within one month was13.04%, which was obviously lower than that of the control group which was39.02%(P<0.05).4. There was no adverse reaction in the cases of both the treatment group and the control group during and after the treatment, and no obvious abnormal phenomena was found in the blood routine examination, kidney function, electrocardiogram and other examinations. Conclusion:The Xiaopi decoction can improve the clinical symptoms of patients having functional dyspepsia (liver-stagnation and spleen-deficiency syndrome), with a good clinical efficacy, and low rate of recurrence in one month’s follow-up. Its curative effect is better than that of Weisu Granules. In addition, no obvious toxic effects or adverse reactions have been found in the Xiaopi decoction, so it is worthy of promotion in clinic.
