Abstract Objective:To study the relationship between the density of interleukin-17(IL-17)in the plasma and the thickness of the carotid artery intima (IMT) of essential hypertension patients with Carotid atherosclerosis. Methods:In this research,220hypertensive patients were categorised into3groups by IMT. One was essential hypertension with carotid artery plaque group including96patients,One was essential hypertension with carotid artery thickening group including61patients,Another was essential hypertension with carotid artery normal group including63patients.The control group was non-hypertensive with carotid normal including61cases.The fasting periphery blood and the centrifugal upper plasma were collected from hypertensive groups and control group to test the plasma level of IL-17by using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) method. The level of IL-17from all groups were compared respectively. Results:(1) The level of IL-17in essential hypertension with carotid artery plaque group (401.850±111.137pg/ml), essential hypertension with carotid thickening group (272.018±2.373pg/ml,essential hypertension with carotid normal group(195.864±64.001pg/ml),the control group (25.509±7.721pg/ml) reduced in turn, the difference was significant (all P=0.000,P<0.001).(2) The concentration of IL-17was positively related to the IMT by correlation analysis (r= 0.732,P<0.001). Conclusions:The plasma concentration of IL-17is positively related to the IMT in essential hypertension patients with carotid atherosclerosis.2Figures,6Tables,35References...
