The Clinical Observation Of Fixed-removable Prosthesis Methods Applied In The Treatment Of Periodontal Disease With Dentition Defect

Objective: After the dental caries treatment, root canal therapy and periodontaltreatment, according to the patients’ condition, designed different fixed-removableprosthesis methods for the patients with periodontal disease and dentition defecttreatment, then observed the clinical effects.Methods: Collecting10clinical cases.Case inclusion criteria:(1)patients withperiodontal disease and dentition defect;(2) those who had already got periodontaltreatment and root canal therapy;(3)having higher requirements to the appearance andcomfort， getting better economic conditions;(4)refusing to accept dentalimplant.Exclusion criteria:(1)the cases whose periodontal inflammation have not beeneffective controlled;(2) the patient who can’t cooperate and get subsequent visitregularly;(3)patients cannot provide for themselves with denture.1.Checking the patients’ teeth about their periodontal status and the dentitiondefect,and get them recorded,analyzing,and taking X-ray films.2.Getting the modulus and analysising,making treatment plan. Explaining to thepatients about the treatment,matters needing attention in the treatment,giving oralhealth education and returning visit on a regular basis.3.Getting post and core treatment on residual roots and residual crowns,andperfect root canal treatment on the teeth that needed.4. Periodontal basic treatment：according to the illness to do dental scaling，Subgingival scaling and Rinse applicator. Obsering periodontal status after a month，periodontal surgery should be done if there were more than5mm deep periodontalpockets or clinical hemorrhage on the gingiva.5. After periodontal inflammation under control，according to patients conditionchoosed fixed-removable prosthesis methods.This paper choosed MK-1 attachment,CEKA precision attachment, ERA and telescope crown dentures asmethods of the treatment.Results:10cases of patients with dentition defect and periodontal disease weretreated with fixed-removable prosthesis methods，Evaluation was got from three aspectsincluding the retention, masticatory efficiency，comfort and appearance.Ten patientswere follow-up visit after half a year.10cases of patients were satisfied with thedenture retention，high masticatory efficiency， comfortable feeling and elegantappearance.Conclusions: Application of fixed-removable prosthesis in the treatment ofperiodontal disease with dentition defect not only has good repair effect，but also reducethe abutment stress，to loose abutment teeth there were a effect of arch splint fixation，conducive to ease of periodontal disease and recovery.
