BackgroundOral and Maxillofacial Ossfying Fibroma(OMOF) has been one of themost common maxilla-facial diseases threatening human health, and itsincidence is an upward trend. The typical clinical characteristic of jawswelling growth-oriented,slow develepment,and long course.Forpathogenesis has not yet competely;the current lack of targetedtreatment,dominated by surgical comprehensive treatment of past30years.Most patients require sugical removal of lesions,malformationsand functional disorders often cause appearance,brought into greatpain,and in a serious impact on patients’ quality oflife.Therefore,the search for new treatments,research and relatedfactors of the occurance and development of ossifyingfibroma,significantly reduce recurrence rates in patients withimportant significance.ObjectiveBy detection MMP-2and BMP-2protein in the united express situationof the OMOF, and analysis the relationship with clinicopathologicalfeatures and the protein expression of both. To discuss their functionin the OMOF in the term of considering the relationships between clinicaland pathological parameters,for providing a relevant basis for the useof MMP-2and BMP-2on gene therapy in the oral and maxillofacial ossifyingfibroma.MethodsThe expression of MMP-2and BMP-2in27cases of paraffin embeddedossifying fibroma and8cases of jaw fracture from traumata were measuredby immunohistochemistry through Envision, and the corelation analysiswith clinical feature of patients. ALL informations are statisticalanalysed by using SPSS17.Chi-squared statistic was used to analyze statistical significance. Differences were considered statisticallyexplicit meaning at p<0.05.Results1.18cases express positive in all27.The percentage of MMP-2positive expressionwas in OMOF tissues(66.7%) in comparison with normal tissues (0%).Scatteredin the osteoblasts in trabecular bone and fibroblasts around. Located in the cellnucleous/pulp.2.9cases express positive in all27.The percentage of BMP-2positive expressionwas in OMOF tissues(33.3%) in comparison with normal tissues (0%).Scatteredin the osteoblasts in trabecular bone and fibroblasts around. The experiment figured out that BMP-2protein’s expression in the lamellar bonetrabecular type and mesh bone trabecular bone type and bone tissue type indifference.(P<0.05),and relate to the size of tumor and age,however,has nothingto do with gender (P>0.05),nevertheless,MMP-2protein don’t express differencebetween lamellar bone trabecular type and mesh bone trabecular bone type andbone tissue type significantly.(P>0.05),and relate to the size of tumor,also hasnothing to do with gender and age and the size of tumor(P>0.05).Conclusion1. The expression of MMP-2in OMOFs was significant and up-regulated whichinfluenced the tumor. So MMP-2may accelerate the occurrence, developmentand metastasis of illness and play an important part in its course.2. The expression of BMP-2in OMOFs was less significant and up-regulatedwhich influenced the tumor. Thus, BMP-2seems revelant to the pathology-typeand size of the tumor.
