Acupoint Selection Rules On Acupuncture In The Treatment Of Simple Obesity

Purpose:To provide a reference and the future study orientations for the simple obesity acupuncture treatment.Input methods:To search the keyword "simple obesity" AND "acupuncture" in Chinese Journal Full-text database with retrieval time from January1990to January2012, to select the articles that meet the inclusion criteria by manual check, and to transfer the info in Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis. The important items such as main acupoints, the meridian of the main acupoints, body parts that the acupoints belong to, specific points attribute, mechods of dialectical point selection, methods of selecting acupoints per disease, etc, were summarized.Results:The main acupoints of the acupuncture treatment for simple obesity including Tianshu, Zhongwan, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, Daheng, Fenglong,etc, were normally selected from the stomach meridians, Conception Vessel, spleen meridians, bladder meridians,etc, which were located in the abdomen, lower limbs and back. The common syndrome types of simple obesity include gastrointestinal excess heat, spleen dampness, spleen deficiency, liver qi stagnation, and deficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin. And the common symptoms of overweight and obesity include constipation, menstrual disorders, bulimia,etc. Specific acupoints such as back-shu points and yuan points of the relevant zang and fu were usually selected for dialectical method; Zhigou, Diji, and Neiting were commonly used as acupoints per disease.Conclusions:Shu acupoints from the stomach, Ren, spleen meridians in the abdomen and lower extremities were mostly used for the simple obesity acupuncture treatment. The acupoints selection rules usually combine the dialectical method and the method per disease.
