Objective To investigate the clinical application value ofvideo-assisted mini-thoracotomy on non-small cell lung cancer. Methods213patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) at stage I-IIIa fromJanuary2008to August2012,82cases undergone complete video-assistedthoracoscopic pneumonectomy (CVATS group),63patients undergonevideo-assisted mini-thoracotomy thoracotomy (VAMT group), andcomparative analysis of the two groups of perioperative clinical indicators. Results There were no significant differences in volumes of intraoperativebleeding, numbers of lymph nodes removal, postoperative analgesicrequirement time, length of hospitalization between the two groups(P>0.05).However, operation durat ion, hospitalization costs of patientsinVAMT group were less than those in CVATS group(P<0.05). Duration ofpostoperative catheter drainage of patients in VAMT groups is slightlylonger than those in CVATS group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion VAMT lobectomy can thoroughly cleanthe lymph nodes, to achieve the effect of conventional thoracotomy; hasadvantage of CVATS surgery, including less invasive, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay, etc., can be used as a surgical approach in non-smallcell lung cancer with no taboos now. This surgical approach has advantage oflower costs,it is likely to be accepted to the majority of patients, and it is easyto master than CVATS, and can achieve the same effect of the conventionalthoracotomy, suitable to be carried out for primary hospital, and also can beused as a bridge to CVATS surgery. it is feasible to promote in the primaryhospital.
