Objective:In this study, the clinical epidemiological survey is accomplished on infertile patients with kidney deficiency syndrome, to investigate the distribution of kidney deficiency syndromes including kidney essence deficiency, kidney yin deficiency and kidney yang deficiency as well as other related syndromes in infertility, to provide a reference for syndrome differentiation and treatment. Methods:The cross-sectional survey was carried out. The questionnaire was made by the experts of National973project group in accordance with The Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Term of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Syndromes Part)"(released by the National Technique Supervision Bureau National Standard GB/T16751.2-1997), and infertile patients with kidney deficiency syndrome were in The Second Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of TCM, West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan and Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital, from June,2012to March,2013. Then syndromes were identified by the criteria of TCM. Finally the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and Chi-square test using SPSS17.0software.Result:1.There were517questionnaires, in which505questionnaires were valid with the effective rate of97.7%.There were190cases of kidney yang, accounting for37.6%,186cases of kidney yin deficiency, accounting for36.8%,59cases of kidney essence deficiency, accounting for11.7%, and70cases kidney yin and yang deficiency, accounting for13.9%. There were147cases of IVF-ET failure, accounting for29.1%.2.The infertile patients were mostly23to45years old. with average age of32.29±4.977. The course of diseases ranged from1to20years, with average duration of5.19±3.831years. There were211cases of primary infertility, accounting for41.8%, and294cases of secondary infertility, accounting for58.2%. The tubal infertility was predominant, accounting for56.4%.3.Among these cases, kidney yin deficiency syndrome was predominant in group aged from20to24, kidney yin and yang deficiency syndrome was predominant in group aged from25to29, and kidney yang deficiency syndrome was predominant aged over30. Kidney yin deficiency was predominant when the course of disease ranged from1to4years, while kidney yang deficiency was predominant when the course was over5years. The highest proportion in primary infertility was kidney yin deficiency syndrome, while the highest proportion in secondary infertility was kidney yang deficiency syndrome. The kidney Yang deficiency was the main syndrome type in infertile patients without pelvic surgical operation, IVF-ET and IVF-ET down-regulation, while kidney yin deficiency was the mainly syndrome type in infertile patients with pelvic operation, IVF-ET and IVF-ET down-regulation.4. There were no significant difference among all kidney deficiency syndromes, in the aspects of age, course of disease, pregnancy histories, type of infertility, intervention of Chinese medicine treatment and Western medicine treatment (P>0.05). There was significant difference in the aspects of intervention of pelvic surgical operation, IVF-ET and IVF-ET down-regulation (P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The kidney deficiency associated infertility is significantly manifested by kidney yang and kidney yin deficiency, followed by kidney yin-yang deficiency, and kidney essence deficiency.2.Kidney Yang deficiency is the main syndrome type in infertile patients without pelvic operation, IVF-ET and IVF-ET down-regulation. Kidney Yin deficiency is the main syndrome type in infertile patients with pelvic operation, IVF-ET and IVF-ET down-regulation.
