In the first part of this dissertation, the research on chemical compositions of Ardisia Caudata Hemsl. has been studied systematicly. In the second part, we arranged domestic and foreign literatures, and the compounds of phenols and benzoquinones belonged to genus Ardisia and antitumor activities of some compounds were briefly summarized.Ardisia Caudata Hemsl., which is known as "E mei Ardisia", belongs to genus Ardisia (Myrsinaceae), and the roots have been used as folk medicine to treat rheumatic pain, sore throat, toothache, stomachache, traumatic injury and swollen lymph nodes. In preliminary study on cytotoxic activity in vitro, the non-small cell lung cancer A549cells proliferation in vitro for alcohol extraction of five folk medicines was evaluated by MTT method. It’s found that the extraction of Ardisia Caudata Hemsl. has significant antitumor activity. This dissertation adopted the modern systematic technology of separation combined with spectroscopy methods, and the chemical constituents of the plan t were studied systematicly for the first time.19compounds were isolated fro m the80%ethanol extraction of Ardisia caudata Hemsl. and14compounds w ere identified by the spectroscopic methods and physicochemical property. Their structures were identified as palmitic acid (1), sitosterol (2), a-spinasterol (3), ardisin E (4),3-[(Z)-10-heptadecenyl]-2-hydroxy-5-methoxy-p-benzoquinone (5),3-pentadecyl-2-hydroxy-5-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (6), belamcandaquinone G (7),5-(Z-heptadec-8-enyl) resorcinol (8), belamcandaquinone H (9), deoxybergen in (10), kaempferol-3-O-a-L-rhamnopyranoside (11), quercetin-3-O-a-L-rhamnopy ranoside (12), quercetin-3-O-a-L-rhamnoside-3’-O-β-D-glucoside (13), a-spinaster ol-3-O-β-D-glucoside (14)14compounds include four benzoquinones (5、6、7、9), two phenols (4、8), three flavonoid glycosides (11、12、13), three sterols (2、3、14), one isoco umarin (10) and one organic acids (1). Compounds1-14were all isolated fro m this plant for the first time, and compound10was a new bergenin derivati ve, belonging to dihydroisocoumarin.
