Objective: The Antarctic krill biomass is huge, which is an important proteinresources, but there is high fluoride content in the body of antarctic krill and we findthat the antarctic krill fluoride absorbed slowly in animals. As we all known, the lowfluoride having a certain improvement effect on osteoporosis and fluoride treatmentof osteoporosis is applied to clinical. To investigate the effect of fluoride in Antarctickrill on osteoporosis in rats. Methods: One hundred of eight week old rats weredivided into10groups and were established osteoporosis model by ovariectomy. Therats were given calcium, fluoride, different doses of Antarctic krill powder andAntarctic krill-calcium combination therapy in addition to the sham operation groupand model control group. Observe the differences in bone mineral density and bonemaximum load and analysize other relevant indicators of bone and serum after12weeks. Result: Administration of medium and low dose Antarctic krill power onlysignificantly improved bone mineral density and biomechanical properties, however,bone mineral density of the high dose of Antarctic krill power alone was nosignificant difference with the model group. The combined treatment group canimprove bone mineral density and bone biomechanics. Conclusion: Thecombination therapy of medium dose of Antarctic krill power with calcium worksbest. If used Antarctic krill power alone, low dose of Antarctic krill power is best.
