Objective:Based on the basic theory of traditional medicine, urticaria differentiated as Wind-Heat Exterior Syndrome should be treated with Pungent-Cool Drugs. Thus a research on the adaptability to pungent-warm and pungent-cool drugs by urticaria patients differentiated as Wind-Heat Exterior Syndrome was carried out through quantitative detection on meridian points with bio-resonance technique. Adaptable drugs had been selected from25divergent drugs to verify the theory of treatment based on syndrome differentiation and also the hypothesis relating the existence of cell biological effect field and meridian system in Chinese medicine put forward by Prof. Zhang Huailiang. As a new method and modern technique bio-resonance can be used for fundamental research on traditional Chinese medicine. Methods:MORA Super, a German bio-resonance apparatus equipped for dermatology department in large scale hospitals (No.44document [2010] issued by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine) was involved in the research.25adopted divergent herbs were divided into two comparing groups with14pungent-cool drugs as the experimental group and11pungent-warm ones as the control group.38urticaria patients differentiated as wind-heat syndrome were enrolled in the test and checked with the MORA-Super apparatus in a Med-test mode. Each person’s meridian point values were recorded while the divergent drugs were tested in the electro nest. Mebe (a bottle of mixture) as the reference object makes the value convincible.Results:38patients were tested in the entire process. The adaptabilities of the25herbs ranged from7.89%to44.74%, with21.37%at the average. The14Pungent-Cool Drugs in the experiment group were tested and their data occurred in the following frequencies:Menta haplocalyx17times, Lemma polyrhiza.L13times, Feverfew12times, Rhizoma Cimicifugae12times, Periostracum Cicadae12times, Lonicera japonica12times, Folium mori11times, Pueraria lobata7times, Actium lappa7times, Flos Chrysanthemi Indici7times, Weeping Forsythiae Capsule6times, Semen Sojae Praeparatum6times, Simple leaf Shrub Chaste tree Fruit6times, Radix Bupleuri5times. It showed that the average adaptability of Pungent-Cool ones was25%, and7herbs were evaluated with the adaptabilities above21.37%as a result. The11Pungent-Warm Drugs in the control group were tested and the frequency data came to: Schizonepeta13times, Divaricate Saposhnikovia Root13times, Herba Ephedrae8times, Flos Magnoliae6times, Siberian Cocklour Fruit5times, Cassia Twig5times, Perilla nankinensis5times, Angelica dahurica4times, Chinese ligusticum rhizome4times, Manchurian wild ginger4times, notopterygium3times. And it also showed that only2herbs were selected with the adaptability above21.37%, while the average adaptability of the Pungent-warm ones was16.75%.Conclusions:1. According to the meridian point values recorded by checking the urticaria differentiated as Wind-Heat Exterior Syndrome patients with MORA bio-resonance apparatus in Med-test mode,9herbs with higher testing frequencies are listed as follow:Menta haplocalyx, Lemma polyrhiza.L, Schizonepeta, Divaricate Saposhnikovia Root, Feverfew, Rhizoma Cimicifugae, Periostracum Cicadae, Lonicera japonica, Folium mori, mostly Pungent-Cool Drugs. It verifies the principle of Syndrome Differentiation in Traditional Chinese medicine that the herbs with pungent-cool nature are suitable for Wind-Heat Exterior Syndrome urticaria, while pungent-warm ones aren’t. And they also coincide with the Drug Compatibility of Sang Ju decoction and Xiao Feng powder using for the treatment of wind-heat syndrome.2. Quantitative technique of adaptability to herbs by meridian point value detection is adopted to find the correlation with basis of syndrome Differentiation and the principles of Chinese medication treatment. It will possibly provide a scientific idea and experimental model for objective and quantitative study on the fundamental theory of Chinese medicine in the future.
