Objective:By applying acupuncture in Wu Quan points for Vascular dementiafollowing the stroke, we observe the clinical improvements of patients’ cognitivefunction and activities of daily living, at the same time authenticate the clinicalcurative effect of acupuncture in Wu Quan points for Vascular dementia following thestroke, then analyzes its action mechanism of therapeutical effects, proceed to the nextstep popularize and apply in clinical application.Methods:64selected vascular dementia patients were divided into the treatmentgroup and the control group of32cases by the hidden random digital envelope method. The treatment group adopts Wu Quan points that is Yong quan point, Shen quan point,Qian quan point, Ce quan point and Hou quan point to treat the cases. The controlgroup adopts traditional head acupuncture that is middle line of vertex, anterioroblique line of vertex-temporal and posterior oblique line of vertex-temporal to treatpatients. A treatment course lasted15days for each group and the clinical observationlasted three treatments. We recorded symptoms of patients at the time of priortreatment, after the first treatment, after the second treatments, after the thirdtreatments. After that we quantitatived scores with the MoCA and MBI scale, at lastevaluated the curative effect after all the treatment.Results:1After treatment, the MoCA and MBI integrals residual between the group wereno significantly difference (P>0.05). The results indicated that two kinds of treatmenthad the therapeutic equivalence.2Comparison of total clinical curative effect between two groups: Theimprovement respect of patients’ cognitive function, in the treatment group, thenumber of basically cure, remarkable effect, effect and inefficacy after treatment were 2(6.25%),20(62.50%),9(28.12%) and1(3.13%) cases respectively. While the controlgroup, the number were1(3.13%),23(71.87%),7(21.87%) and1(3.13%) casesrespectively, the total effective rate was96.87%. After the statistical, Z=-0.293,P=0.385>0.05, no significantly difference between treatment group and control group. The improvement respect of patients’ activities of daily living, in the treatment group, the number of basically cure, remarkable effect, effect and inefficacy after treatmentwere10(31.25%),20(62.50%),2(6.25%) and0(0.00%) cases respectively. While thecontrol group, the number were5(15.625%),22(68.75%),5(15.625%) and0(0.00%)cases respectively. After the statistical, Z=-1.729, P=0.042<0.05, there weresignificantly differences between treatment group and control group. The resultsindicated that in the total effective rate, two kinds of treatment had the therapeuticequivalence in improvement of patients’ activities of daily living. But in the totalremarkable effect, that is sum of the rate of basically cure and remarkable effect, inbasically cure the treatment group is obviously superior to the control groupespecially.3Compare clinical curative effect of seriously dementia patients between twogroups: There were9seriously dementia cases in treatment group, while the controlgroup were6cases before treatment. The improvement respect of seriously dementiapatients’ cognitive function, in the treatment group, the number of remarkable effect, effect and inefficacy after treatment were4(44.44%),4(44.44%), and1(11.12%)cases respectively. While the control group, the number were2(33.33%),3(50.00%)and1(16.67%) cases respectively. After the statistical,, no significantly differencebetween treatment group and control group. The improvement respect of seriouslydementia patients’ activities of daily living, in the treatment group, the number ofbasically cure, remarkable effect, effect and inefficacy after treatment were3(33.33%),5(55.56%),1(11.11%) and0(0.00%) cases respectively. While the control group, thenumber were0(0.00%),3(50.00%),5(50.00%) and0(0.00%) cases respectively. Afterthe statistical, Z=-1.946, P=0.044<0.05there were significantly differences betweentreatment group and control group. In the total effective rate, two kinds of treatmenthad the therapeutic equivalence in improvement of activities of daily living, but in thetotal remarkable effect the treatment group is obviously superior to the control groupespecially. Conclusion: 1The therapy of Wu Quan points has better clinic curative effect in the treat ofvascular dementia than traditional head acupuncture, especially in the improvementrespect of patients’ activities of daily living.2The therapy of Wu Quan points has definite clinic curative effect in the treat ofseriously dementia patients. Meanwhile this therapy is superior to the control groupespecially in the improvement respect of seriously dementia patients’ activities of dailyliving.3The therapy of Wu Quan points has definite clinic curative effect, safety withoutside effect, doctors easy to master, patients accept easily and it is worthy to popularizein clinical application.
