Objective: To study the effect of orthokeratology in controlling the development ofmyopia in youngsters.Methods: Orthokeratology and Frame glasses were used these myopia teenagers withspherical equivalent refraction between-1.00~-4.00D and astigmatism was smaller than-1.00D for320eyes of160cases.The experimental group wearing orthokeratology lensand the control group wearing glasses, the experimental group were observed in patientswearing1day,1week,2weeks,1month,3months,6months,1year, the control group afterwearing glasses1month,3months,6months,9months,1year visual acuity (uncorrectedvisual acuity, UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (best corrected visual acuity, BCVA),spherical equivalent (spherical equivalent refraction, SE), the curvature of the front surfaceof the cornea (anterior corneal curvature, ACC), etc., and related data for statisticalanalysis was used to compare the experimental group with control group data, independentsamples t test, paired sample t test was used to compare between the experimental groupand with control.Results: Before Orhto-K wearing, the mean vertical corneal curvature was44.07±1.23D,the mean horizontal corneal curvature was42.75±1.02D,after one year Orhto-K wear theywere42.31±1.54D、41.21±1.43D, the difference was significant(t=21.62,P<0.05;t=16.45,P<0.05).Brfore Frame glasses wearing, the mean vertical corneal curvaturewas42.81±1.42D, the mean horizontal corneal curvature was42.04±1.30D,after one yearFrame glasses wearing they were44.34±1.09D、43.52±0.90D, the difference wassignificant(t=-21.53,P<0.05;t=-21.15,P<0.05).Before Orhto-K wearing,mean uncorrectedvisual (UCVA) was0.18±0.08,after one year Orhto-K wearing it was0.99±0.05, BrforeFrame glasses wearing, mean uncorrected visual (UCVA) was0.18±0.07,after one yearFrame is glasses wearing it was0.16±0.05,the difference wassignificant(t=146.47,P<0.05).Before Orhto-Kwearing,mean spherical equivalentwas-3.00±0.73D,after one year Orhto-K wearing it was-0.5±0.25D, Brfore Frame glasses wearing, mean spherical equivalent was-3.01±0.65D,after one year Frame glasses wearingit was-3.40±0.48D, the difference was significant(t=67.14,P<0.05).Conclusion: In master the correct fitting procedures and with qualified under thepremise of fitting technology, orthokeratology lens is an effective method to control theprogress of myopia in adolescents.
