Objective: To investigate the changes and clinical significance of homocysteineand cystain C in type2diabetes patients with early stage ofnephropathy. Methods: The diabetic patients by urinary of albumin excretionrate, UAER levels divided into simple diabetic group (group B), early diabeticnephropathy group (Group C), each group were respectively measured serumHcy, cystatin C,Cr, BUN, UAER, and compared with the normal subjects(groupA). Results: the levels of serum Hcy, cystatin C of simple diabetic group andearly diabetic nephropathy group was significantly higher than the normalsubjects, the difference was statistically significant (P <005). With theprogression of diabetic nephropathy, level of serum Hcy, cystatin C wassignificantlyincreased (P <005).Conclusions: levels of serum Hcy, cystatin Cwith the progression of diabetic nephropathy increased gradually, thus can beused as sensitive indicators of the evaluation of early diabetic nephropathy, which has clinical value for early diabetic nephropathy diagnosis and monitoringof the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
