Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of discectomies and corpectomies combined with cervical spine locking plate used together in treatment of multilevel cervical intervertebral disc herniation. Methods:The therapeutic effect of24patients with multilevel cervical intervertebral disc herniation who received the treatment of discectomies and corpectomies combined with cervical spine locking plate from april2006to june2010were retrospectively analyzed, including18males and6females(aged36-70years,52years on average). The course of disease was6months to10years.(5.6years on average).20patients have3consecutive segments,4patients have4consecutive segments,All the patients suffered sensory dysfunction in limbs and (or) muscle strength down. All patients cervical plain films,MRI on preoperation and on postoperation were observed. The JOA scores of preoperation and6months postoperatively were collected.Results:24patients were followed up for6months-30months months,16months on average. JOA score was about9.1±2.26points before operation, the postoperative of6months was14.3±1.31,the mean recovery rate was60.9%,Postoperative X-rays demonstrated solid fusion, the fusion rate was100%,the intervetebral height were maintained.and there were no complications related to plate and screw loosening displacement or breakage. Conclusion:Discectomies and corpectomies combined with cervical spine locking plate used together in treatment of multilevel cervical intervertebral disc herniation appears to be effective in decompessing spinal cord, improving nerve functional status and high fusion rate and fewer complications, the results is satisfactory.
