Relationship Between Osteoporosis And Arteriosclerosis In Old Men

Objective: In this paper, through studying the correlations of bone mineral densityand arm-ankle Pulse wave conduction velocity, ankle arm Index, carotid intima-mediathickness such as index of arteriosclerosis, to investigate the association betweenarteriosclerosis and osteoporosis in the old men,, and provide basis for clinical preventionand treatment for osteoporosis and atherosclerosis disease.Methods:141old male patient （age≥60years）who admitted to our ward of FirstAffiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University Department from2011to2012，completed the Dual-energy X-rayabsorptiometry,Doppler ultrasonography and cervicalvascularultrasound.Aaccording to BMD, patient were divided into three groups: normal group,osteoporosis group, osteopenia group, and to compare the blood pressure, blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin, blood lipids,25-hydroxy vitamin D and so on among the threegroup. According to the baPWV,the patient were divided into low baPWVgroup(baPWV<1700cm/s) and high baPWV group(baPWV≥1700cm/s), and to compareblood lipid, blood pressure,25-hydroxy vitamin D, bone mineral density (BMD) in thetow group.Results: Compared with normal group, there are not significant differences except for ageand IMT(P <0.05), blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipid,25-hydroxy vitamin D,baPWV, ABI showed no obvious abnormalities.Compared with low baPWV group, highbaPWV group has statistical significance among systolic pressure, diastolic pressure andpulse pressure (P <0.05)than the low baPWV group. BMI and lumbar spine bone mineraldensity is positively (P <0.05), ABI is negatively related to and BMD of the NECK andINTERTRO (r=-0.190,-0.173, P <0.05).Conclusion:The index of arteriosclerosis is associated with bone mineral density, Thepatient with osteoporosis in elderly people also have the risk of atherosclerosis.
