This Master thesis is composed of six chapters. Reported in the chapters1-3were theinvestigation on the chemical constituents of Sambucus chinensis herb, Pueraria edulisradix and Stellera chamaejasme radix, respectively. The chemical constituents andpharmacological activities and clinical application of Sambucus plants, Pueraria radix andStellera chamaejasme L. were reviewed from fourth chapter to sixth chapter.43compounds were isolated from the three plants, and39compounds were identified basedon the spectral techniques.Chapter1The Chemical Constitutens of Sambucus chinensis herbSambucus chinensis herb is the herb of Sambucus chinensis Lindl. The medicinalmaterials were collected from Kunming city of Yunnan Province. Our investigation onthe chemical constitutents of this plant resulted in the isolation of9compounds. Theywere: Patrinoside-aglucone (1),10-O-Acetylpatrinoside-aglycone-11-O [4’’-O-acetyl-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1â†'2)-β-ribohexo-3-ulopyranoside](2), Astragalin (3), Ferna-7,9(11)-diene-3α,16α-diol (4), α-Amyrin (5), β-Sitosterol (6),1-Pentacosanol (7), Arachidicacid (8), Palmitic acid (9). The compounds of1-4and7-9were isolated from Sambucusplants for the first time.Chapter2The Chemical Constitutens of Pueraria edulis radixPueraria edulis radix is the radix of Pueraria edulis Pamp. The medicinal materialswere collected from Shiping county of Yunnan Province.17compounds were isolatedfrom the alcoholic extraction of this materials. They were determined to be Daidzin(1),Puerarin (2), Daidzein-8-C-apiosyl(1â†'6)glucoside (3), Ambocin (4), Genistein (5),Genistin (6), Sophoraside A (7), Pueroside A (8), Tuberosin (9), Liquiritigenin (10),Apigenin (11), Isoliquiritigenin (12), Neoisoliquiritin (13), Zizyvoside (14), α-Amyrin(15), β-Sitosterol (16), Daucosterol (17). The compounds of4-5,7-15and17wereisolated from Pueraria edulis Pamp for the first time. The compounds of7,13and14were isolated from Pueraria plants for the first time. Chapter3The Chemical Constitutens of Stellera chamaejasme radixStellera chamaejasme radix is the radix of Stellera chamaejasme L. The medicinalmaterials of Stellera chamaejasme L. were collected in Jiangchuan county of YunnanProvince of China. Our investigation of the chemical constitutents of the root of this plantresulted in the isolation of17compounds, and13of17were identified as Chamae-chromone (1), Neochameajasmin A (2), Neochameajasmin B (3), Sikokianin A (4),Sikokianin C (5), Isochameajasmin (6), Daphoretin (7), Dahnorin (8), Umbelliferone (9),Skimmin (10), Liriodendrin (11), Syringin (12), Palmitic acid (13).Chapter4The study on chemical constituents of Sambucus plantsThere was few number of references about the chemical constituents and pharma-cological activities of Sambucus plants. Based on the reports, over80compounds werereviewed from Sambucus plant. The major constituents of Sambucus plants aretriperpenoids, flavones, and lignanoids. At the same time, the pharmacological activitieswere summarized.Chapter5The study on chemical constituents of Pueraria radixPueraria Radix, a traditional Chinese medicine, has been already applied for a longhistry. Based on the reports, over170compounds were reviewed from Pueraria plant, especially from the radix of Pueraria plant. At the same time, the pharmacologicalactivities of Pueraria radix and some clinical applications were summarized.Chapter6The study on chemical constituents ofStellera chamaejasme LThere were many references about the chemical constituents and pharmacologicalactivities of Stellera chamaejasme L. Based on the reports, over100compounds werereviewed from Stellera chamaejasme L.
