Investigation On The Quality Of Life And Analysis Of Influencing Factors On The Elderly Migrants In City

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to understand the status of the quality of life of theelderly migrants in city, and to measure its some determinant factors. To provide abasis for policy-making of the promotion of quality of life in elderly migrants in city,and promote the development of healthy aging.MethodsBy using WHOQOL-BREF scale, a total of568migrants of aged60years oldand over in Wuxi were interviewed. Data from the questionnaire were recorded andsort out by excel software and analyzed by SPSS18.0. Descriptive statistics, analysisof variance and t test was used for univariate analysis, use multiple stepwiseregression analysis for multivariate analysis.ResultsThe mean score of aspect of physical health was12.69±2.46, mental health was11.87±2.65, social relations was12.86±2.66, and environment was10.57±3.35.Scores of quality of life in elderly migrants in female were lower than male inphysical health, mental health and environment, there were significant differences(P＜0.05). In all aspects of the WHOQOL-BREF the score decrease with age increaseand increase with education level,there were significant differences(P＜0.05), scoresof healthful elderly migrants were highter than those with chronic diseases in allaspects, there were significant differences(P＜0.05).Scores of the elderly migrantswith spouse were highter than those no spouse including divorced and widowed.Scores of QOL of elderly migrants from city were highter than from rural exceptsocial relations, there were significant differences(P＜0.05). There were significantdifferences between people who take part in activities and not in scores of all aspects(P＜0.05), cores of QOL of elderly migrants with family harmony were higher thanfamily not harmonious all aspects, there were significant differences(P＜0.05).Hobby elderly in the quality of life scores were higher than the no amateur, there weresignificant differences(P＜0.05). The scores decrease with the number of children inthe aspects of physical health and environment, and the scores increase with the living condition of children, there were significant differences(P＜0.05). Scores of qualityof life in elderly migrants who travel frequently were higher than the one who nevertravel in physical health, mental health, social relations and environment, there weresignificant differences(P＜0.05).Multivariate analysis results showed that the main impact factors to the quality oflife of elderly migrants were gender, age, hobby, religion,marital status, and chronicdiseases,etc.Conclusion1.The score of QOL of the elderly migrants decrease with age increase.2.The score of QOL of the elderly migrants increase with high education.3.Age, gender,chronic diseases, income, hobby, education level, marital status,participate in activities, family harmony have influenced on QOL of elderlymigrants of Wu xi city.
