ObjectiveTo investigate the status of the self-management level and the quality of life of the elderly patients with GERD of nursing home in Jinzhou city, further analysis of the relationship between the self-management level and the quality of life of the elderly with gastroesophageal reflux and to analyze the impact of the influencing factors of the quality of life of the gastroesophageal reflux patients, to provide the basis for improving the quality of life for the elderly with gastroesophageal reflux disease in nursing home.MethodsFrom December 2012 to June 2014, by the application of convenience sampling method, by questionnaire to investigate 248 cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease in nursing home in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. This project includes literature review, the pre-test questionnaire, normal survey, analysis the data of the questionnaire, writing papers and other steps to complete the study. To assess the self-management level,and the quality of life of the elderly patients with gastroesophageal reflux of nursing home, mainly through self-management behavior scale, the short form 36 questionnaire(SF-36) and other tools to implemente. Gastroesophageal reflux ill patients who present study investigated dimethyl and above hospital after diagnosis. Survey data were double entered after verification SPSS statistical software, build the database, and then analyzed statistically. General information by ANOVA, self-management and quality of life of patients scoring application X ±S, the relationship between quality of life and their self-management by Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression.ResultsBy the results of this study, the score of the quality of life of the elders with GERD is lower than healthy elders, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05), The total score of the self-management of the patients with gastroesophageal reflux in nursing home is low, the score the quality of life of and the self-management behavior score by correlation and multiple regression analysis, the results showed a positive correlation between the quality of life of elderly patients with gastroesophageal reflux and its self-management level, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). By ANOVA analysis,the factors of the quality of life of the elderly is age, area of residence, education, height, weight, marital status, activities, past history, whether edible greasy food, whether regular consumption of fruit, whether regular consumption of spicy foods, whether regular consumption of vegetables, whether regular consumption of tea, coffee, seafood, whether frequent constipation, whether there is pressure, the daily consumption of the law, whether endoscopy, whether proton pump therapy, drug therapy, the number of visits to nursing homes and other factors that could affect the quality of life of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease(P<0.05). Smoking, drinking, sex and other factors did not affect(P>0.05) on the quality of life of elderly in nursing home. By the scores of quality of life of the patients with gastroesophageal reflux as the dependent variable, select a statistically significant factor in univariate analysis as the independent variables, multiple regression analysis showed that the drug, Whether drinking coffee regularly, whether regular consumption of greasy foods, whether regular consumption of spicy foods, age, educational level, living area, pressure, number of relatives and friends to visit elderly difference factors can affect the quality of life of the patients with gastroesophageal reflux, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionThe level of the Self-management behaviors and the quality of life of the patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease in Nursing home is poor, caregivers can improve their quality of life by improving the level of the self-management of the elderly with gastroesophageal reflux disease. As caregivers should pay attention to the severe symptoms of the elderly patients with gastroesophageal reflux to strengthen psychological care, and regular physical examination. Caregivers should give the correct cognition and good habits to the patients, to avoid the emergence of new complications. While regular proton pump drugs, regular consumption of coffee, regular consumption of fatty foods, regular consumption of spicy foods, age, educational level, living area, pressure, number of relatives and friends to visit nursing homes can affect the quality life of the elders with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
