Objective The study aimed to explore the role of Integrin betal in the development of vocal fold polyps by detecting its expression and distribution in vocal fold polyps and normal vocal fold tissues, and further explore the pathogenesis of vocal cord polyps, which may provide a reliable theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of the disease.Materials And Methods35cases of vocal cord polyp specimens were selected for the experimental group with pathological diagnosis confirmed and without other vocal fold lesions.Normal vocal cord tissues(11cases)were selected as the control group. All specimens were stained by HE and then the Max VisionTM immunohistochemistry, computer image quantitative analysis was needed. After that statistical analysis software SPSS17.0was used to analyze the data and figure out the P value(p<0.05, difference was statistically significant). Results Integrin betal expressed strongly in the vocal cord polyp’s inflammatory cells, vascular endothelial cells, fibroblasts and weakly in normal tissue of the vocal cords. The positive unit mean (35.5551+3.8483) in vocal fold polyp was higher than that in normal vocal fold tissue(21.1969±3.5849), and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05).Conclusions1. Integrin betal was highly expressed in vocal fold polyps, suggesting that it may be closely related to the occurrence and development of vocal cord polyps;2. Vocal cord polyp is a long-term chronic process of inflammation, in which integrin betal and other inflammatory mediators together lead to chronic inflammation;3. Integrin betal expressed highly in inflammatory cells, which can promote the conjunction with the corresponding ligand in the extracellular matrix, and thus provide attachment points for cell adhesion, leading to tissue edema.Highly expressed in vascular endothelial cells can promote the formation of polyp vessels, increasing its density and providing a rich blood supply for its growth;4. The overexpression of integrinbetal caused by vitro stimulus can continually transmit signals into the cells, raising protein and ligand binding ability, resulting in disorganizing of connective tissue of lamina propria, disappearing of layered structure, and then polyp forms.
