Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety by performing the randomized controlled trial on internal and external treatment of acne, and explore its possible mechanism, in order to prove its safety, effective and scientific.Methods:1. Patients who are suffering from acne were randomly assigned to the Chinese medicine group and western medicine group according to the sequence.2.Therapeutic method:The Chinese medicine group included66cases taking acne liquid1or2orally100ml/time twice a day and using the herb mask once a week. The treatment lasts for6weeks.The western medicine group included65cases taking Roxithromycin Capsules orally0.15g/time twice a day and smearing0.3%Viaminate and Vitamin E Cream twice a day. The treatment lasts for6weeks, too.3.Observing method:Photograph the target lesion and fill in the observation forms before and after research every2week and record the number of inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions, traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, the medication compliance and the occurrence of adverse reaction.4.Effect evaluation method:Classify and observe the patients according to Pillsbury and International acne classification method.Calculate the index of curative effect and evaluate the efficacy by symptom scores of traditional Chinese medicine every2week.Observe the therapeutic effect on two kinds of skin lesions by counting the number of inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions.5.Safety evaluation method:All cases have to take routine examination of blood, urine, liver and renal fuction before and after research. The safety level and the occurrence of adverse reaction should also be recorded.6.Statistical method:Do statistical analysis by software SPSS for windows20.0, P<0.05means significant differences.Result:1.Comparison on the numbers of lesions and symptom scores of traditional Chinese medicine:Both Chinese medicine group and western medicine group experienced significant improvement before and after research shows that there was significant improvement (P<0.05), and there was significant difference between Chinese medicine group and western medicine group (P<0.05).The symptoms of patients of Chinese medicine group showed significant improvement in all symptoms and lesions after6weeks continuous treatment.Comparing with Chinese medicine group, patients of western medicine group improved rapidly, but continuous effect is not as good as patients of Chinese medicine group. There was no significant difference between invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome.2.Comprehensive evaluation of therapeutic efficacy:the total efficacy rate were90.77%and74.60%for Chinese medicine group and western medicine group respectively, with significant difference between them(P <0.05).The efficacy rates were87.50%and93.94%for invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome respectively, with no significant difference between them(P>0.05).3. Comparison on safety:All cases have no abnormality in routine examination of blood, urine, liver and renal fuction before and after research. Conclusion:The internal and external treatment on acne could reduce the number of inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions and the traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores, which has no significant side effects.6weeks after treatment symptoms and lesions can achieve a significant improvement which is superior to the patients who use western medicine. The effect of invasion of the Lung by Wind-Heat syndrome and damp-heat of lung and stomach syndrome is almost equal.
