Background Patients demonstrated significant abnormal signs and symptoms prior to admission to ICU. Early detection and intervention for clinical deterioration inpatients would decrease the adverse outcomes. Objective To determine the effect on outcomes of deteriorating hospital inpatients after RRS implementation for a reference to management of critical patients outside of ICU setting.Method A before and after study design with historical controls. Hospital inpatients before and after RRS implementation between Sept1and Dec31,2011and2012were included. ICU admission rate, time between deterioration and ICU admission, ICU length of stay, mortality rate of deteriorating hospital inpatients were evaluated to determine the effect on outcomes of deteriorating hospital inpatients after RRS implementation.Result After RRS implementation, ICU admission rate, time between deterioration and ICU admission, mortality rate of deteriorating hospital inpatients were significantly decreased (P<0.05). There is no difference at ICU length of stay (P=0.393).In patient CPR rate was significantly decreased (P=0.001)Conclusion Implementation of an RRS was associated with significant reduction in ICU admission rate, time between deterioration and ICU admission, mortality rate of deteriorating hospital inpatients.
