Objective:To understand the current situation of elderly silicosis patients’life quality and group differences, and to explore the influencing factors of life quality of elderly patients with silicosis. Design targeted psychological intervention program, which can improve the elderly silicosis patients’life quality, and examine the feasibility and effectiveness of psychological intervention.Methods:This research contains two parts. Part1:A total of252elderly silicosis patients were investigated with SF-36, SSRS, MCMQ, SAS, SDS,UCLA and self demographic questionnaire, in order to analysis the status and factors of elderly silicosis patients’life quality. Part2:The31patients of voluntary registration who met the study requirements were regarded as the experimental group and another31patients were selected as control group. Counseling was only given to the experimental group, not to the contrast group. Any else conductions were given to both groups equally. The use of quantitative and qualitative way to evaluate the effect of psychological intervention.Results:1. Evaluations of Investigation were as follows:(1) The level of life quality of elderly patients with silicosis was low.(2)The dimension of elderly silicosis patients’life quality had significant difference in different socio-demographic characteristics and disease-related characteristics, such as age, origin, marital status, the average monthly income, hobbies, life satisfaction, silicosis stage, smoking, alcohol consumption and so on.(3) Social support was significantly positively related of the elderly silicosis patients’life quality. The face of factors, avoidance factor in coping styles were positively related of the elderly silicosis patients’ life quality, while yield factor was negatively correlated of it. Anxiety and depression was significantly negatively correlated of it. But loneliness was not correlated with it.(4)According to the regression analysis, the main factors affecting the elderly silicosis patients’life quality were SDS, SAS, origin, objective support,, yield factor, avoidance factor, silicosis stage, smoking, hobbies,, the average monthly income and age.2.Results of the experimental study of the psychological intervention:(1) The results of quantitative research:Comparison, through measured before and after the intervention, vitality, role emotional and mental health factor scores of elderly silicosis patients’life quality were significantly improved. Subjective support, utilization of support and social support total scores were significantly increased. Avoidance and yield coping styles scores were significantly decreased.Depression, loneliness score were significantly reduced.(2) The results of qualitative research:The psychological intervention targets to achieve in good condition.Elderly patients with silicosis feel good atmosphere and higher satisfaction of psychological intervention. They think they are harvested in the psychological intervention.Conclusion:The life quality of elderly patients with silicosis is low. Life quality is affected by demographic characteristics, disease-related characteristics and psychological factors. Psychological intervention could effectively improve social support, perfect coping styles, regulate negative emotions and finally enhance the life quality of elderly patients with silicosis.
