[Objective] Objective To investigate the expression and distribution of SOX2,OCT4,β-catenin and p120ctn in breast carcinoma and fibroadenoma of breast. Then to analyze the relationship between the four proteins and the clinical and pathological features, and to explore the value of them in the breast carcinoma.[Methods] Immunohistochemistry two steps was used to detect the expression of SOX2, OCT4,β-catenin,and p120ctn in seventy-eight breast cancer samples and twenty fibroadenoma of breast. Then to do a statistical analysis between the expression of them and patients’age, the size of tumor, pathological grade, staging and lymph node metastasis status. And to do statistical analysis about the correlation between the expression of SOX2, OCT4, β-catenin and p120ctn respectively.[Results]1.In the twenty cases of fibroadenoma of breast, three cases were positive about the expression of SOX2, the positive expression of OCT4was two cases, β-catenin have two case abnormal expression, p120ctn have one case abnormal expression.2. The positive expression rates of SOX2and OCT4were64.10%and87.17%respectively,while the expression of SOX2was significantly related to pathological grade and lymph node metastasis status (P<0.05).The expression of OCT4had a obvious correlation with the size of tumor and pathological grade and lymph node metastasis status (P<0.05).The abnormal expression ratios of β-catenin and p120ctn were79.48%and71.79%respectively.The abnormal expression of them were both interrelated with pathological grade and lymph node metastasis status(P<0.05).3.The expression of SOX2,OCT4,β-catenin and p120ctn in breast carcinoma were significantly higher than those in optimum breast tissue, the difference was significant in Statistically.(P<0.05).4.The abnormal expression of OCT4was increased with the increased intensity of SOX2(r=9.600); The abnormal expression of β-catenin and p120ctn have a significant positive correlation(r=47.250);the difference was significant in Statistically.[Conclusions]1.The expression of SOX2and OCT4was increased in breast cancer, The expression of β-catenin and p120ctn was apparent abnormal in breast cancer, the expression of them maybe play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of breast cancer.2.The expression of SOX2,OCT4,β-catenin and p120ctn, have a closely relationship with some clinical and pathological features of breast cancer, the expression of them may be useful indicators to monitor the degree of malignancy of breast cancer.3. The positive expression of SOX2and OCT4and the expression of β-catenin and p120ctn may play an collaborative role in the pathogenesis and the development of breast cancer. They may have some clinical value to accurately predict the biological behavior of breast cancer and make the individualized treatment programs for the patients.
