The objective of study was to investigate the effects of Chinese herbal medicineadditive on dry matter intake and production performance of perinatal dairy cows, andto provide theoretical basis and methods to exert the production performance of dairycows.32Chinese Holstein dairy cows with similar calving date, parity, milk productionwere randomly divided into4groups:control group, group A,group B,and group C.Thecontrol group fed diet, the experimental group added prescription Chinese herbalmedicine from prenatal21days to postpartum21days(total42days).The amount ofChinese herbal medicine added in Group A,Group B,and Group C is respectively50g/d,100g/d,and150g/d.The results show that:1.Compared with control group, dry matter intake(DMI) of dairy cows inexperimental groups was significantly improved.DMI were significantly improved byadding Chinese herbal medicine additive in diets of cows during the period fromprenatal14thday to prenatal7thday before, and the period from postnatal14thday topostnatal21thday(P<0.05). DMI of group B and group C are significantly improvedduring the period from calving to postnanal14thday(P<0.05).2.milk yield were significantly improved by adding Chinese herbal medicineadditive in diets of cows in peripartum(P<0.05). Every cow milk yield of group Awas improved2.74kg/d,every cow milk yield of group B was improved4.87kg/d,every cow milk yield of group C was improved4.87kg/d.Differences of milkcompositions were of no significance(P>0.05).The differences on content of milkdry matter, milk fat, milk protein, milk lactose were of no significance among controlgroup, group A, group B and group C(P>0.05).3.The hormone secrection about cow’s reproduction, first estrus,duringpostpartum70day cows estrus ratio and calving interval were improved by addingChinese herbal medicine to dietary during postpartum..It is indicate that the cowsrepreduction performance were improved by adding Chinese herbal medicine to dietary during postpartum.
