With the emergence of fossil energy crisis and the increase in atmospheric pollution, looking for new energy which is energy-saving, environmental, and sustainable has become the primary task of the world. To this end, China has stepped up efforts to develop biomass power and make it industrial development. Currently, Crop straw, bagasse, and rice husk etc has been difficult to meet the demand of biomass power generation in China. Therefore, many biomass power generation company began to shift attention to forest residues and branches timber.However, by the branches timber’s structure, the specific circumstances of our forest areas and the existing equipment of branches material crushing limitations,it is almost impossible to complete the task of branches material’s situ crushing. Therefore, the high cost of branches timber transport will greatly increase the cost of biomass power generation, which limits the development of biomass power generation in China. In this case, designing a large mobile branches grinder equipment which can make branches timber situ crushed is imperative to solve the problem of biomass power generation in China.This article makes a depth study to our branches material distribution and the specific situation of China’s forest area. Beyond that, this article also makes a structure and function analysis to existing branches crushing equipment. Finally, by analysis and summarizes, I think that Drum branches grinder is very suitable for the branches material crushing. On this basis, the article presents the structural composition and the form layout of the large truck-branches grinder. Through in-depth study to the theory of timber cutting, this article completed the design and simulation research of the Drum branches grinder.On the basis of market research and theoretical analysis, through grasping wooden robot, trailer chassis, conveyor and Drum branches grinder’s reasonable combining and layouting, the large truck-branches grinder is designed, which can walk in our forest areas and complete the branches timber’s place crushing.On the basis of in-depth study to wood cutting theory, the structural design of the Drum branches crusher is completed. At the same time, the finite element analysis is completed to its key components by ANSYS software, which includes Static analysis and dynamic analysis. Through static analysis of the key components, the stress, strain and deformation nephogram are obtained, which examine the strength and stiffness of the Drum branches grinder. Through dynamic analysis (Modal Analysis) of the key components, the first10natural frequencies and modes are received, which examine the stability of the vibration of the Drum branches grinder. Finally, the reasonable of the Drum branches grinder’s structure is verification. The three-dimensional model of the Drum branches grinder is established. On this basis, motion simulation analysis of the Drum branches grinder is put into execution. The results of motion simulation analysis not only verify the reasonable of the Drum branches grinder’s designing, but also provide guidance to its improvement and perfect.The research of the subject not only solved the problem of raw materials’ production for biomass power generation in China, but also provided ideas and evidence for the design of mobile branches grinder equipment.
