Garden Revetment Design Research

The style of waterscape are shaped by revetment.Garden revetment design should be animportant part in landscape design that can’t be ignored.But nowadays,the study of gardenrevetment mostly focused on the ecological revetment theory and practice.Researches onrevetment structure for security and stability are insufficient.And there’s even no research caresabout the aesthetics aspect of revetment.The historical development of revetment shows thatrevetment has security protection function, aesthetics function and ecological function whichnot a single one can be omitted. So divide garden revetment designing problems into threeaspects which are structure stability problems,aesthetics problems and ecological problems,then discuss them in detail. On account of plants have direct influence on revetment ecologicalfeatures and visual effect,this article focus on them as also.By applying the theory of revetment structure, landscape aesthetics,ecology and plants,Iselect some garden revetment in Beijing to conduct a survey.These waterscape can be dividedinto two categories,which are urban river type and park lake type.In this survey,urban rivertype garden revetment include Changpuhe Park revetment and Yuan Dynasty City Wall RelicsPark revetment,park lake type garden revetment include Beijing Botanical Gardenrevetment,Yuanmingyuan Park revetment,Shichahai Lake revetment and Beihai Parkrevetment.Through the theoretical study and the investigation analysis,this article analyze thetwo kinds of characteristics of waterscape and then put forward the key points in this two kindsof garden revetment designing.At last,garden revetment designing principles and designingprocess are put forward.
