Research On Application Of Vernacular Landscape Element In Modern City Residential Landscape Design

With rapid development of China’s urbanization process, human settlement in our countryhas gained significant improvement, especially in residential landscape design, which presentssituation of style diversification. In the meantime, many cities blindly follow usual practice ofprevious urban construction when conducting residential construction, making convergence ofresidential landscape become increasingly serious and plenty of vernacular culture and landscapewith local color go missing, and bringing development and inheritance of China’s vernacularcivilization unprecedented challenges. While how to protect vernacular resource, enabling it toobtain better inheritance and development is the problem that residential landscape construction atthis stage needs to pay attention to.This paper’s definition of concept of vernacular landscape is conducted on the basis ofresearch on relevant theories of foreign and domestic vernacular landscape design. Throughanalysis of basic characteristics of vernacular landscape, it states significance of vernacularlandscape in landscape design and probes into existing problems of contemporary residentiallandscape environment. According to different characteristics and patterns of manifestation ofvernacular landscape, it concludes component element of vernacular landscape element into threekinds,“natural vernacular landscape element”,“artificial vernacular landscape element”, and“humane vernacular landscape element”. This paper also discusses design principle andconstruction way of vernacular landscape through excellent cases of excellent residential landscapedesign.Main body of this paper makes detailed analysis and conclusion of the application ofvernacular landscape element in modern city residential landscape design. And through combiningpractical cases, it enriches and supplements theoretical system of vernacular landscape design.Conclusion part of the paper analyzes innovation point of this paper through in-depthresearch on vernacular landscape element and summarizes research result, hoping that it can beused for reference on ruralization design of modern city residential landscape.
