Renewal Of Beijing Tianqiao Traditional Courtyard Into Small Performance Venues

This research is concerning the subject of transformation of Beijing Tianqiao traditional courtyard into small performance venues, which is established on the basis of transformative design of Tianqiao performance area, mainly with Liuxue Road area as an example. This paper is mainly used to achieve the purpose of achieving the renaissance of traditional performance by the transformation of the traditional courtyard. After the transformation, the traditional performance area are mainly used to performing traditional art, and further making the entire area become experimental zone for traditional Tianqiao performing culture.First, the paper describes the background, purpose and significance of thesis topics, and definition of subject matter to be studied. Then a background study is conducted on the transformation of the traditional courtyard into small performance venue by listing the conditions and significance of such transformation, from urban design, artistic development, economic and cultural perspectives. And on this basis, a study is conducted on the concept of the traditional Tianqiao culture and relationship between audiences and performance. Furthermore, from the perspective of constraining original courtyard, corresponding transformation measures are elaborated from the streets, courtyards perspective.Through the above-mentioned studies, this paper mainly concerns transformation on the most important venues, venue between audience and performance. Articles can be classified, from performance art form perspective, into four aspects, i.e., audience performance space design of folk performances after transformation, audience performance space design of China opera performances after transformation, audience performance space design of drama performances after transformation, audience performance space design of small multi-functional performance area after transformation. Finally, from transforming external space design perspective, this paper studies the transformation from the lobby space and outer space design as well as how to enrich transformation and other aspects.The research of this paper contributes a new thought of reusing traditional courtyard in the future. In the meanwhile, it provides a possibility for the development of traditional arts and small performance venues.
