Researches On The Courtyard Space Form Of "Zhuang Kuo" Folk Houses In Hehuang Areas In Qinghai

China has various styles of folk houses in its vast territory. Most of them have along history. Since Mr. Liu Dunzhen started to research on China’s residential field,more and more people with breadth of vision has participated into the residentialresearch work, which has made great achievement. However, in terms of the currentresearch area of folk houses in our country, it is not complete, meticulous. There arerelatively large numbers of deeply study on areas that has significant characteristics ofbuilding morphological and cultural, but the research on the folk houses in more remoteareas is still in relatively simple stage, thus it is more easily neglected by people.The Zhuang kuo folk houses in Qinghai have a long history and splendid culture,and it has a simple architectural style and distinctive national character. It has been aunique landscape on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Folk houses have its uniquecharacteristics in profile architectural form, cultural connotation, ecological sense, and ithas profound effect on the local regional culture and ecological environment. But intoday’s Chinese folk houses research field, there is no systematic investigation andstudy.This thesis takes courtyard space of Zhuang kuo folk houses in Hehuang as theresearch subject. Starting from surveying and mapping and interviewing with residents,the paper uses the analysis methods from whole and part point of view, combining withthe objective and subjective methods. Based on referring, analyzing and summarizingthe historical data and literature, the thesis analyses the courtyard space form,characteristics, construction technology, building materials and components anddecorative. Combination with the deeply study on different ethnic examples, the paper does a plenty of study on the production activities and life style impact of residentialcourtyards, the combination method of Zhuang kuo and the terrain and environment, thecombination method of construction function and the production and life. Finally, thestudy tries to do some basic research on the local traditional settlement and dwellingsprotection, inheritance and development of traditional residential areas and tourismeconomic development of traditional settlement, so as to provide reference for otheraspects of research on folk houses.In the first part of the paper, the area geography, climate, culture and history of thedevelopment of dwelling building are summarized through the detailed research dataand books query. Then the thesis has a preliminary understanding of courtyard spaceconformation of Zhuang kuo folk houses in Hehuang areas. Its basic feature ofcourtyard space was further analyzed after the literature material investigation and studyon historical evolution and formation factors of Zhuang kuo folk houses in Hehuangareas in the second part of the paper. In the third part, combining with Investigationexamples, the paper mainly analyses the single buildings of different ethnic, courtyardsspace, structural type, construction materials, decoration culture and etc. The fourth partof the paper mainly analyses principles characteristics and its intrinsic value of thecourtyard space layout of Zhuang kuo folk houses in the area of Huangshui, Finally,combining with the designs,the thesis do a further analysis of traditional and themodern Zhuang kuo folk houses. The construction methods are explorated preliminarilysuggestions on the construction of region characteristic rural residential are proposed.
