A Project Management Case Study On The Water Supply Engineering Of Lanzhou Veolia Water Group Co., Ltd

Since the reform and opening up, with the development of economy and society, and the improvement of people’s living standards, there have been increased demands on water, water quality, and water supply time of water services in major cities of China. The contradictions between the increasing demands for water and the insufficient water supply have been becoming increasingly serious in cities. How to meet the city’s growing domestic and industrial water demands, and ensure the safety, stability and sustainability of the water supply, are the problems that the government of all levels and the water supply enterprises should consider about. The Third Main Supply Pipeline of Lanzhou (Hereinafter referred to as the "Lanzhou Water Supply Project") started in this surroundings.The thesis was based on the Project Management theory and methods, taking the "Lanzhou Water Supply Project" undertaken by Lanzhou Veolia Water (Group) Co., Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as the "Lanzhou Veolia water group") as a case. At the same time, the author described the case and analyzed the concrete practice of the project management, based on the project management important theoretical knowledge, tools and methods of the safety management, schedule control, quality management, cost control. We firstly focus on a more detailed description in Lanzhou Water Supply Project and then do a theoretical analysis. In addition, the author summarized and evaluated the success factors of this case on project management. We have provided a useful reference for the future implementation for others water supply projects in the Lanzhou area of Lanzhou Veolia Water (Group) Co., Ltd. as well as other water supply projects in other cities that carried out by other companies. We hope this study can benefit for the other Supply Project, improve the level of water supply project management, guarantee urban water quality of service that implemented by Lanzhou Veolia water group in Lanzhou, also provide some theoretical guidance and practical reference to urban water supply project management for other companies in the same industry.
