This paper facing to woodworking machinery.By analyzing its structural characteristics and design features, the paper put forward the digital design requirements and design process of woodworking machinery. Then, this paper made some research on woodworking machinery digital design system with PDM, Knowledge Engineering, Parametric Design Technique.The main work contains as follows:1. The study on digital design requirements analasis and arthitecture of woodworking machinery digital design system.This paper made certain of demand analysis and design workflow through investigation in enterprise.And it proposed the whole architechture of woodworking machinery digital design system.AIso,it analysed the functional modules and the software tools to achieve its functions. According to that, this paper studied the basic theory and method of digital design system.2. The study on design knowledge base of woodworking machinery digital design system.According to its structural design,this paper mainly study on the expression and organization of the instance knowledge,design rules and design specifications of woodworking machinery,then developed its product design knowledge base on VS2010,VB.NET,Access2010and Excel2010.3. The study on parametric design system of woodworking machinery. The paper concluded the parametric design process of some parts and components which can be parameterized, mainly studied the secondary development based on SolidWorks, then developed the parametric design system of woodworking machinery with VS2010, VB.NET and Access2010.4. The study on management and integration techniques of woodworking machinery digital design system based on PDM. After understanding the function constitution and architechture of PDM, the paper mainly studied the management and integration techniques of woodworking machinery digital design system based on PDM.The management techniques contains users and limits management, project schedule and workflow management, product data management and so on.Whereas the integration techniques includes software integration and data integration that achieve the functions of the digital design system.5. At last, set a project for an example, the paper introduced the application of woodworking machinery digital design system based on PDM in the design process of the product in detail, and verified the feasibility of the system.
