Regional spatial structure is the result of comprehensive motion by socialeconomic, cultural, resources and environment and so on, involving disciplines have regional economics, economic, geography, sociology, city planning, it is a complex systems engineering. In the background of economic globalization and international spread swept the global, all countries and regions in the world, began to accelerate the pace of its development. The multi polarization of the world began to appear and also the area presents the diversification. In order to adapt the development of new forms, and seeking for long-term development of area, research and optimization the spatial structure of regional, it plays an important role in enhancing the overall competitiveness of the regional and coordinating regional economic developing.Chengdu as a western city of hinterland, neither have the inherent advantages of coastal ports, nor convenience of the major rivers waterway. But from ancient times to the present, its status and importance in the history of the development of Chinese city has never been shaken. And modern Chengdu as a International Metropolitan is displaying to the world of its ancient and modern, It can be say the development of Chengdu is a typical case in urban development of the western region. Regional space--ring network of Chengdu formed in the long-term development process is very characteristic, very representative but also full of great research value. At the same time, drawing support from my tutor’s research of Natural Science Foundation--"Don not ancient city form of Chengdu and the later evolution of morphological recovery-and to explore the role of the ancient city of deformation mechanisms in contemporary urban renewal", expand the study of regional spatial structure in Chengdu since the modern evolution. On the whole, this article adopts the method of combing quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis together to research.First of all, through the qualitative analysis, it can divide the evolution of regional spatial structure of modern Chengdu into three stages and derive the evolution characteristics of different stages. In various stages of development, I study the elements composed of regional spatial structure evolution in detail, through these studies obtained some of the problems of the evolution of regional spatial structure existing in Chengdu. The evolution mechanism of regional spatial structure is a unity of universality and particularity, so this method adopt the method from general to specific to analysis evolvement mechanism of modern Chengdu region spatial structure. In the firstly this article analysis the universal dynamic mechanism of evolution of modern Chengdu of regional spatial structure, and then, according to the evolution of different stages, analysis the main dynamic mechanism of the evolution specifically. Then, the author analyzes the evolution difference of modern Chengdu of regional spatial structure by the method of quantitative research. In the quantitative study mainly adopts the absolute and relative difference, theil index and Spatial Gravity model that commonly used for analysis of regional differences to research. These conclusions thoroughly modern Chengdu reveal differences in regional development and are helpful to a clear understanding of the regional spatial structure of modern Chengdu.Through the combination of qualitative analysis and quantitative study deeply reveals the present situation, the evolution mechanism and the existence of the differences of modern Chengdu region spatial structure. The analysis concluded is helpful to put forward some targeted suggestions about Chengdu regional spatial structure optimization.
