With China’s sustained high-speed railway construction, high-speed rail line opened one after another. Some passenger trains from existing lines are canceled or transferred to parallel high-speed line, the transport capacity of the existing line is some released. How to accurately measure releasing capacity after the opening of the high-speed rail line is the key problems to be solved.Thesis analyzes the background and significance of the study, and reviews current research, which in turn determine the objectives of the study, research and technology roadmap.Secondly, cargo demand forecasting methods are reviewed and summarized. Based on the available data, long-term Wuhan-Guangzhou line of cargo flow are forecasted to lay the foundation for capacity allocation of research resources below.On the basis of former cargo flow foregoing, the thesis studies capacity resource optimization after the completion of the existing high-speed rail line. First, the basic principles and objectives of the research for capacity resource allocation is studied, then coordination between capacity resources and capabilities of existing lines are analyzed to determine the basic mode of existing line capacity utilization after the opening of high-speed rail line.Subsequently, the paper studies capacity release method and regularity of existing line after the completion of high-speed rail line. Firstly, basic features of existing line capacity utilization after the opening of high-speed rail line are analyzed, and advantages and disadvantages of different methods for calculating through capacity are compared in the thesis. Based on the above analysis, the shortcomings of current deduction coefficient method for calculating existing line is analyzed and then improving deduction coefficient method is proposed. Finally, the basic laws of existing line capacity releasing is summaried.Finally, on the basis of the foregoing researches, the thesis applies them to Wuhan-Guangzhou channel, then, comparative analysis between the the existing deduction coefficient method and the improving existing deduction coefficient method proposed in the thesis, effectiveness of the new method for calculating capacity realizing of existing line after the opening of high speed rail line is verified at last.
