Most of our railway lines adopted the mode of mixed running basically. Along with the speed increasing of passenger trains, the difference of the speed between passenger and reight trains has been gradually increased, and it impaced the efficiency and capacity directly. And then a series of new changes and new questions have occurred especially with the EMU on-line. So how to allocate the capacity for the passenger train and the freight train becomes a prominent question.Based on this background, this paper studies the speed matching of passenger/freight trains on existing lines with MAX. speed of 200km/h, analyses an example for this and draws some conclusions. In this article, first introduced the mode of operation organization and the carrying capacity, focused on the concepts of train-group operation and the calculations of capacity on 200km/h existing line. And all this settles the foundation for the following researchAnd then studied the speed matching of passenger/freight train through the carrying capacity in different methods.1. Direct calculation. A simple integer-programming model was structured bythe decided structure of the Train diagram.2. Deduction coefficient. Through the deduction coefficient analysis of a separate passenger train and passenger train, an expression of group-passenger train was deducted. And some conclusions about the speed matching were carried out.At last, by using of computer simulation system, on the basis of the data of the Baoji East-Xi'an railway line, through change different class trains' speed, number or tracking interval, we get a series of results which have been analyzed and revised after that.
