At present, the research on risk management of tunnel has just started in our country, which is still not mature, and need a lot of places to be perfected. The Tianping railway is an importance of Gansu province "eleven five" key construction projects, and the Liupanshan tunnel is the first tunnel across Tianshui to Pingliang. Due to the complex tunnel engineering geological condition, particularly prone to landslides, rockfall, mountain slide, gushing water, causes the construction seem to be very difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to study the risk management of the project, based on the project and according to the geological conditions of our country, putting forward the tunnel risk assessment method adjusted to this type, which has practical significance.Firstly, the paper consulted fully the achievement of domestic and foreign about risk assessment, from which worked out the excellent methods and defects of risk assessment. Secondly, after a basis of survey, provides the content of the paper. The paper’s theme has a creative characteristic.From the perspective of risk assessment of our country, based on the Liupanshan tunnel, considering the major factor of tunnel’s risk, the paper established the factor system of Liupanshan tunnel’s risk, and considering the value of some of the important projects in our country, which can provide the basic procedures of risk assessment in the tunnel of railway and the grading standards and the acceptance criteria.Giving an example of Liupanshan tunnel and according to the above-mentioned risk assessment system, the paper adopted the expert investigation method. In the basis of utilizing the grading standards and the acceptance criteria, it calculated the main risk and taked a effective measures to avoid the big trouble occurred. It is very good for the future of our country tunnel risk management, which also has very high research value.
