China is undergoing rapid development of its public infrastructure. Each year about one trillion yuan RMB is invested in transport infrastructure. By the end of2011, total length of road had reached4.106million km, among them, there are about9,000tunnels with total length about7,000km. Although the construction speed is unprecedented in the world and the investment is huge, the risk management doesn’t work effectively and lots of accidents take place, which brings large potential risks to human life and properties. Thus, it’s urgent to take into account risk management in the whole process of tunnel construction. The importance of risk management during tunnel construction is now widely accepted. But due to the lack of a practical method, the existing theories of risk management are mainly based on experience and analogy, leading to the theories less specific and applicable to local projects. Supported by the Yantou-Daruoyan project of NanFu Line in No.41provincial road, this paper analyzes the risks of Tongzhou Tunnel during the construction drawing stage. The method of Analytic Hierarchy Process combined with Expert Scoring Method is adopted to analyze and evaluate the risks of the double-arched tunnel, corresponding countermeasures are put forward. The research work in this thesis are as follows:1). Studies on risk management in tunnel construction are reviewed. The definition of risk management modes is presented.2). Various quantitative and qualitative analysis methods are compared based on the characteristics of double-arched tunnel. The method of Analytic Hierarchy Process combined with Expert Scoring Method is adopted to analyze and evaluate the risk of Tongzhou Tunnel in the construction drawing stage. The mechanism and causes of risk events are then analyzed. Risk management methods and suggestions are finally presented.Based on real projects and site investigation as well as the R=P×C model, this thesis establishes a risk evaluation system and obtains the risk levels in the construction drawings stage for the Tongzhou Tunnel. Risk management and mitigation measures are put forward. The achievement of this thesis can provide theoretical guidance to the project and can provide reference to the risk management of similar tunnel projects.
