With the rapid urbanization and inflow of population, community parks situated in the downtown communities incline to pursuit functionality and superficial garden greening, while ignoring the significance of landscape color design; Moreover, though the problem of aging society grows more and more serious, relatively scare are researches into landscape color demand arising from behaviors or mental activities from the prospective of the elders. Color is not only a important part of landscape design and a crucial factor in landscape assessment, but also unconsciously affect human emotions and metal activities; whether and how the color of community park, a vital part of dwelling space, can meet the demand of the elders is the focus of this research paper.In this writing, I adopt chromatology, environmental psychology, and gerontology to conduct a interdisciplinary research. The subject of this research, raised from the color of the community park and the connection between color and elder’s psychology, is a novel research in real life application of chromatology. This writing uses community parks in Xiamen as a real case of studies, conducts color contrast and investigation and interviews towards the elder, and raises principles and methods of community color designs of community park from the prospective of the elders.The research findings include the following:community color design and elder’s color preference, relationship between community color design and regional color, connection between color designs in different functionalities and elder’s mental awareness, relationship of community park and the chroma characteristics of local landmarks. By studying the relationships of these community park design, this writing offers a new perspective of building community environment that better exhibit cultural characteristics and better meet the elders’ psychological demand of community environment.
