The Enlightenment Of Traditional Dwellings In Southern Hunan To Modern Living Condition

As a part of traditional Chinese architecture, the traditional dwellings in Southern Hunan boast a unique and distinctive regional cultural feature, which is not only open-wide and grand in layout, but also embed Chinese tradition of "harmony between man and nature" concept throughout the whole living environment. When following the natural ecological environment and paying attention to individual living environment, it also emphasizes the public space environment at the same time. In this way, not only human and the nature make a harmonious coexistence, also neighbors become more harmonious and friendly, reflecting an organic combination between humanities and environment in as well as the good wishes to return the original nature of ancient people in Southern Hunan. All these ideas meet the desire of modern people, whom are grounded by concrete jungle. Therefore, the building ideas and methods in the traditional dwellings of Southern Hunan are still of great reference value for modern living condition. The building concept, space form and materials in the traditional dwellings of Southern Hunan all contribute much for an extension method we well as exerting vital influence in the further development and related theoretical researches in Southern Hunan’s modern living condition.Through thorough analysis of the specific characteristics of traditional dwellings in Southern Hunan, This article summarizes the state quo and construction principles of the modern living condition. On the base of the difference between the modern living condition and the traditional living condition, the author makes a further study and discoveries the possibilities to inherit and develop the traditional dwellings of Southern Hunan in modern living condition through illuminating exploration.The thesis is divided into five parts.The first part mainly introduces the research background, purpose and meaning, and further discusses the scope of this study and research methods.The secondly part introduces the construction characteristics of the traditional dwellings in Southern Hunan. On the base of the influencing factors on formation of traditional dwelling in Southern Hunan, the author analyze elaborately and systematically its layout, space combination form, form characteristics, material selection respectively. Beginning with the state quo of modern living condition, the third part introduces the elements and analyzes its main factors influencing the modern living condition and its necessary functions, revealing the problems existing in the development of modern living condition.The forth part analyze in depth the relevance and differences between the traditional dwelling and modern living condition. Then it further analyzes possibilities to inherit and develop the traditional dwellings in Southern Hunan to modern living condition.At last, the fifth part, based on the analysis of the construction principle of modern living condition, summarizes and puts forward series of illuminating ideas for the enlightenment of the traditional dwellings in Southern Hunan to modern living condition.
