In today’s commercial and economic era where brands are attached greatimportance, the mascots, as a kind of special symbol, are different from the usuallogos in a rather rigid design. Today’s mascots can be endowed with uniquecharacteristic according to their own uses. They are also distinct from the celebrityeffect, but the economic benefit and brand awareness gained by them are beyondmeasure. Therefore, modern mascots become increasingly popular. Besides, themodern design is not confined to learn only from the West. Nowadays, the Chinesefolk arts has provided rich design resources for the mascots design, and more andmore designers had begun to lay emphasis on the practical applications of Chinesefolk arts in their designing. The traditional culture is gradually reviving. With there-design of the mascots from West Lake Expo as the starting point and the marketingsurvey and theoretical research as the basis, this paper studies the applications oftraditional modeling elements in modern mascot design in order to start from thepractice and finally make theory and practice combined. |
