Pinghu is a typical water town, and its water system is criss-cross and it has a dense river network. But the industrialization, urbanization and the deviation of cognition lead to a very serious damage to its ecological environment, especially to the water ecological environment. Every river in Pinghu has been dredged in recent years, and we have obtained a certain effect. But there are still problems, such as soil erosion, river siltation, severe water pollution, poor water quality and so on. Especially the trend of water environment deterioration and ecological function degradation still haven’t been effectively curbed. So, the comprehensive improvement measures and demonstration research, and the exploration and practice of river ecological management are very necessary. As its research value, we can restore the function of rivers, protect the river ecology, improve the rural water environment, and reappear the "clean water, unimpeded river, green shore and beautiful scenery" of water town. At the same time, it also can help us promote the development of urban and rural and the construction of a new socialist countryside. Besides, it can provide a reference to the ecological management of small rivers in water system.This paper reviews and summaries the theories, methods and engineering practices which are related to river ecological treatment at home and abroad, analysis the status and problems existing of urban rivers in Pinghu water system, puts forward the guiding thought, principle, goal, range and measures of the comprehensive improvement, and analysis the expected effect once the project are done. Then, with four demonstration projects, we illustrate the technological measures in detail, and its effects on water functional restoration, water environment improvement, water ecological restoration and water landscape construction. These four projects are river comprehension improvement projects in Luchuan Garden in Xincang town and Caojia River in Caoqiao street, water ecological restoration project in Xinqun village in Zhongdai street, and vegetation measure application project in Fangtang harbor in Xindai town.The research and analysis shows that the river comprehensive improvement must implement the theory that the harmonious of man and the nature, must stick to the principle that ecology first and people first, and must adjust measures to local conditions and local rivers. Through these measures, such as connecting rivers, dredging, ecological riverbank, afforesting plants, purifying water, landscaping, intercepting and treatment, building water ecological restoration and landscape projects, can we make the aim of ecological water control come true, realize the aim that rivers can be "unimpeded river and clean water, green bank and beautiful scenery, perfect founction, and harmonious relationship between human and water". And promote the urban-rural integration development and the construction of socialism new countryside in Pinghu.This paper studies and creatively designs some new ecological revetment type. And it has a strong relevance and practicality. In this paper, the water ecological restoration project and the hydrophilic landscape engineering are researched in some different areas and types of plain river network in rural river. Two themes of "ecological" and "hydrophilic" are highlighted to comply with the demand of comprehensive improvement and the direction of development in rural river. The scheme which combined using the two-way turns pump station and the rubber dam is originality studied, in order to achieve the comprehensive purpose of promoting water flowing, improving water quality, enhancing river hydrophilic and controlling flood. And it has a strong application value.
