Change Management Process In Automotive Development Project Q-CF1x

With the development of automobile industry in China, the designing and development ability becomes more and more important to local Automobile companies. During the design and development process, change management process receives most attention, due to its impact to the cost and timing plan to the project.This article is based on an actual change management process in a practical automobile development project, Q-CF1x project. First, we analyzed the main peculiarities of the automobile design and development project:the longer development cycle, the bigger investment, involves a wide range of stakeholders, and obvious development stage. Secondary, the three major issues in this certain change management process is identified, the process issue, process responsibility issue, and data transfer control issues. Therefore, together with the general project management theory, we try to solve the issues by using the theory of change management, business process reengineering and data management theory. We establish a new process that meets the characteristics of automotive design and development project, a matrix to clarify the responsibility; and the data transfer process. To ensure the process can be implemented, a draft version of a process checklist is introduced in this article as well.
