In recent years, With the rapid development in shipbuilding industry of China, in order to built more ships faster, better, and cheaper, the main task of shipyards have became to achieve the modern administration mode. Now the quality of shipbuilding have a forceful guarantee by rules and standards, the shipyards’ competitive capability can be seen as the construction period of a ship in same series.The construction period of a ship is consist of building in dry dock and undock. As the construction period in dry dock decide the shipbuilding output, many shipyards set main research object on reduce the construction period in dry dock to build more ship and to show its competitive.For the purpose of reduce the construction period in dry dock, the thesis analyzed the main parts and main works of the shafting to get the relationship between shaft bearing location measurement and stern tube boring, and also known the continuity of the shafting works. By research into the technical of shaft bearing location measurement, measuring accuracy can be increased by advance technology when in same hull structure integrity which is in high requirements. By research into the technical of stern tube boring which machining on the scientific basis provided by shaft bearing location measurement, realized that the machining precision can hardly been controlled. Also, it will spend lots of time to go through the whole machining procedure which can influence the construction period in dry dock directly. So the research direction in this thesis were clear.With the research purpose of reduce the construction period in dry dock, the production procedure must be changed. Stern tube boring in block stage can directly achieve the main purpose and gain additional technical benefits.By using existing technology and equipments in shipyard, the new procedure can be used by the research of block assemble technology, block erection accuracy control and welding method control.So, by using the technical of block erection after stern tube boring can reduce the construction period in dry dock.
