Tow ship noise is seen as a near-field spatial interference, it seriously affects thedetective property of towed linear array sonar system. Based on the research project of atowed ship noise simulation system, this dissertation studies and simulates tow ship noise andits interference firstly, then designs the Master Control Software of the simulation system.The ship-radiated noise can be divided into continuous spectral component, line spectralcomponent and time-varying modulation spectral component according to its spectralcharacteristics, and all of them are modeled and simulated here. Continuous spectrumsimulation is performed by letting Gaussian white noise passing a adaptive filter, linespectrum simulation is performed through sinusoidal or cosine signal, time-varyingmodulation spectrum simulation is performed in the form of cyclical Gaussian pulse serials.The simulation in this paper could reflect typical acoustic characteristics of ship-radiatednoise by processing and analyzing the simulated tow ship noise.As an important part of the simulation system, the Master Control Software isresponsible for setting parameter, displaying and operating simulation results. The software isdeveloped with the aid of MFC in Visual C++, and designed with modular programmingthought. There are four modules, including parameter setting module, communication module,graphic display module and graphic operating module. The simulation test results show thatthese modules can meet the requirements of design.
