| With the vehicle quantities increased, high speed on highway and drivers’ skillunprofessional, Vehicle handling, as “the life of highway†is even serious for thevehicle active safety. Also, As the vehicle used widely in daily life, customer requiremore and more stricter for not only vehicle reliability, performance or fuel economy,but also vehicle handling and ride. The deep research on vehicle handling is quitenecessary.K&C property of suspension system is the basic of vehicle dynamic and is thefirst step to research vehicle handling. To shorter the development timing and lowerthe cost, CAE simulation technology is widely applied. By CAE simulation, thevehicle performance could be well known and controlled during the design process,especially in the early design phase and the optimization phase. As the most popularsoftware in vehicle dynamic research field, ADAMS can help on modeling, analysisand final treatment work conveniently;A SUV car is taken as an case in this article, introduces the method of modelingand analysis on K&C property of suspension system and vehicle handling byADAMS/Car, Includes CAE modeling, calibration, simulation, evaluation andoptimization. Firstly according to parameters of the SUV car, establish the model offront/rear suspension system, and analysis the K&C property, and confirm theaccuracy of the model, the analysis result comparing with the actual test data.Secondly, based on the confirmed model of the front and rear suspension system, alsowith the models of car body system, tyre system and engine system, then assembledas the whole car model used to analysis the vehicle handling. All the test in GB/T6323-1994regulations is simulated, including steady steering test, steady steeringreturn ability in high/low speed test, S-shaped test, steering portability test, Steeringwheel angle step input test, steering wheel angle pulse input test. To confirm theaccuracy of the whole car model, all simulation result is contrasted with the actual testdata. Finally, parameters sensitivity analysis and optimization analysis isaccomplished to improve the critical SUV handling performance. |
