Man and nature, this topic has never been ceased to discuss and reasearch. The harmoniouscoexistence of the two that the reasearchers hope to complete. With the development ofscience and technclogy, human life has moved from the cave to the skyscraper now. When weimmersend and enjoyed from the mordern civilization, whether to consider the cost and pricethat the environment has been paid.Should we design a new life mode to reduce the cost andprice. This thesis aims to preserve cave dwelling essence and advantages, combined withmodern civilization organically. To explore a new life mode, the new living space should beconducived the harmonious development between man and nature. In ancient times, humans have begun to use the natural caves in the natural environment toavoid the storm, anti-cold and heat. Shanxi and other areas still retain the integrity of the twohundred years ago the cave, and there are human habitation. Cave as a casing type of building, its artistic characteristics and general building a very different creature. The carrier of the caveis the courtyard, the courtyard of the carrier was the village the village carrier Hill or Sichuan, loess nature. Between man and nature live in harmony and symbiosis. Arched traditional cavedwelling from a formal point of view, although very common, but the integration with thesurrounding natural environment, arc-shaped even more light and lively, this from naturalforms, cool, eco-energy saving, permeated with harmony with nature, the simple appearanceof architectural forms aesthetic ingenuity. The cave dwelling from the structural features, belonging to the the overburdenbuilding categories. The rise of the casing architecture evolved in today’s tight context ofurban land resources, this part of the building, or all of the soil covered. Thick soil layer as aninterior space of the natural protective layer, effectively reducing the energy loss of the space,to improve the utilization of energy. From the appearance point of view, this particulararchitectural forms and not on the surrounding natural environment caused by destruction ofthe natural landscape are still visible.Although the the casing form has many advantages, but its drawback is unable to meetmodern people continue to live here. The paper by analyzing the Shanxi region of cave dwelling, field trips and visits. Summarize the common characteristics of the cave dwellingand casing construction, especially in the modern lifestyle goals, analyze the typicalshortcomings of such space. And how to use design tools to effectively improve theseshortcomings. Designed to develop a new mode of life, able to make people comfortableliving here, can effectively reduce the excessive waste of energy, to minimize the destructionof the natural landscape. People, architecture, natural environment to form a harmoniousorganic ecosystem.
