As one of the most important assembly of the vehicle, the suspension combinesthe wheel with the frame of the vehicle, directly influence the related usability such asthe operational stability、the ease of the steering、the comfort of the driver and thequantity of the abrasion loss of the tire. Nowadays there exists many species ofsuspension, the double wishbone suspension is one of the most popular among these.The article mainly based on a school bus with the front double wishbone suspension,considering the exiting problems, such as the poor driving stability, the front wheelshimmy, the severe wear of the front wheel, the bad steering return ability, etc. Thearticle mainly optimize the steering knuckle arm to solve the problems, and alsodesign a torsion bar spring match the vehicle, the paper will discuss them followingthree sides:1) The article depend on the model of the front double wishbone suspensionwith torsion bar coming from a school bus of the Dongfeng Motor Company, firstlyconfirm the important coordinate of the hard points through the known data andunknown data detained from scanning by the Three-dimensional scanner. And then,build the model with the software ADAMS/VIEW, conduct the kinematic simulationto analysis the changed range of the location parameters of the front wheel, includingthe Toe, Kingpin inclination, Kingpin caster, Camber angle, Sideways displacementand so on. Also including the ackerman during the steering.2) Based on the Virtual Prototype Technology, establish the multi-objectivesmethod optimization, optimize the splitting point of the steering trapezium based onthe minimal range of the Toe angle; optimize the connective point between thesteering arm and the steering tie rod, including the connective point with the veh icleframe. Only in this way, can we design the appropriate steering gear assembly,improve the vehicle steering performance, reducing tire wear, etc., determine the bestlayout.3) Using the basic theory and related design requirements for the optimal o ftorsion bar spring, with the finite element method to the analysis of the torsion bar,and verify the correctness of the analysis and calculation of the rigidity curve and thestiffness curve of torsion bar suspension, evaluate whether it meet the requir ements. The design combines the theory with the project relatively, make most use of thetheory to tackle with the problem existing in the engineering, put forward the clearsolution to solve the difficulty encounter in the process design of the front susp ension,it has the important significance to analysis and optimize design the front suspension.
